Within Defence Equipment and support (DE&S), mandated requuirements for managing Safety and Environmental Protection (S&EP) are published as the DE&S Aquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS). The use of ASEMS was endorced by the DE&S Executive Board following the merger of the Defence Procurement Agency and the Defence Logistics Agency in 2007.
