This notification is to announce the update to wording within COTS, MOTS, and Modified COTS and MOTS within 4. How to Do It.
Additional wording has been added to aid the decisions made around the complexity of producing a Safety Case. Wording has been updated to state that for a simple PSS a Safety Case may not be required, with the intent of reducing the activity involved with, and burden of, excessive amounts of Safety Cases, particularly where a Safety Case would add no great value.
This notification is to announce the release of SEB 053 - Update of S&EP Leaflet 09/2015 – ‘DE&S’ Contribution To Mitigating Risk To Life Across MOD’ to Version 2.7. The leaflet is available within GMP00.

This notification is to announce the release of SEB 050 - Update to S&EP Leaflet 03/2011 – Equipment Safety and Environmental Protection (SEP) Risk Referral. The leaflet has undergone significant review and rewrite. Version 3.0 of this leaflet supersedes all previous versions with immediate effect.

This notification is to announce the release of SEB 049 - Update to Policy Clause 5.9 Specialist Advice. The SEB outlines the additional wording to Policy Clause 5.9 which was defined following the Sheldon report and linkage to Recommendation 4.
Following the release of SEB 048, which mandates the use of the Safety Case Maturity Tool (SCMT) when reviewing Safety Cases, Policy Clauses 4.1 (Safety Cases) and 4.10 (Independent Review) were updated to reflect the mandate.
Since the release however, it was recognised that Policy Clause 4.10 is in fact referring to Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS), for which SCMT is not designed.
Policy Clause 4.10 has therefore been reverted to its previous version where SCMT is not mandated for use with SEMS.
